In this session, we will explore the basics of using iPads with students, including how to organize devices and use Apple Classroom to support classroom management and student learning. A highlight of the session will include a virtual guest lecture via Zoom by UVU Professor Dezi Lynn, who will provide expert modeling of book reviews.Following the presentation,educators will collaborate on book reviews for various grade bands (k-12) using the NIEA Rubric. Case managers are tasked with writing compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each child on their caseload. This session will revisit common challenges encountered by case managers during the IEP writing process. Topics covered will include appropriate invitation procedures, accurate completion of the service page, and the correct protocol for drafting amendments. Location: Bishop Room - McKinley
This PD session provides educators with evidence-based strategies to create organized, predictable environments that foster independence and engagement for learners with Autism and Complex Developmental Disabilities. Participants will learn to implement visual supports, physical organization, and structured routines across all settings—from the self-contained and resource classrooms, to the general education setting and to the community. Through practical, actionable techniques, this training focuses on reducing student anxiety, enhancing communication, and maximizing engagement for diverse learners. Location: Bishop Room - McKinley
Staff will be able to observe behavior strategies by showing how they look in action. The facilitator will break down common behaviors/mental health concerns by explaining what/why they occur, how to identify effective strategies to address/support, and how the strategies are implemented. This PD session explores how physical manipulatives can bridge the gap between abstract concepts and concrete understanding across all grade levels and instructional settings. Participants will learn practical management strategies for organizing tools and techniques for seamlessly integrating hands-on discovery into whole-group, small-group, and independent learning environments. In this session, teachers will explore how greenscreen/chromakey videos can bring creativity, storytelling, and student voice into the elementary classroom. Participants will learn the basics of planning, recording, and editing greenscreen projects with young learners, including tips for setting up a simple recording space, choosing backgrounds, and guiding students through the creation process. We will discuss classroom-friendly project ideas such as weather reports, book talks, historical interviews, science explanations, virtual field trips, and creative storytelling. By the end of the session, teachers will leave with practical strategies for helping students create engaging videos that demonstrate learning in fun and meaningful ways.
